Painted Rask

Rask is a pretty cool model. So many paint schemes can be applied to him that make him look awesome. You can easily find skins of Murlocs from World of Warcraft to place onto him and he'd look great. I went for something very similar to the base scheme from Privateer Press. Took only 2ish hours to paint, pretty happy to have him done.

At this point, I'm 75% of the way done with the Minion warlocks. I have Strum & Drang and Midas left to do for warlocks. I still have Lug and Skarath to paint for the Lesser Warlocks, but I'm not worrying about them until after Adepticon.

My plan for Rask's theme force is to paint two units in his scheme, one unit in the default Privateer Press scheme, and a fourth unit in a different scheme I don't have yet. The two units in Rask's scheme will be his personal enforcers and they'll ambush more often than not. The unit in Privateer's scheme will be Rask's bodyguards, the Bog Trogs he doesn't trust. They get the benefit of dying for Rask. The fourth is really up for debate on how it plays, but should be fun. That is, if I can finish the first unit...

Painted Calaban, The Grave Walker

As per my usual lately, finished another Minion warlock, this time it being Calaban. I was a little afraid of this model due to the checkerboard on the mask, but that turned out to be pretty easy as the details were there. For a simple model, he has a ton of colors and a lot to paint on him. Very impressed with him.

Painted Pendrake, Croak Hunter, and Swamp Gobbers - WIP

Here's my last post for 2011 and one that should be three separate posts! Here are the final four models I've got painted for 2011. They are Viktor Pendrake, a Croak Hunter, and the two man Swamp Gobber team. I'm happy with how they all came out and can't wait to see them dipped.

These 4 models put my total for 2011 to 61 models. My goal for next year was 75, but in light of the last month and a half, I'm raising my goal to 100. I should be able to do it and I've been really enjoying playing fully painted armies on the table.

Painted Thrullg 2 - WIP

So, instead of painting my Bog Trogs yet again, I decided to finish my second Thrullg. To separate the two on the battlefield, I took Seraphsong's suggestion and painted this one green. Simple scheme just the like the last one and it painted up quick.

Painted Feralgeists

Here are my 3 Feralgeists for Minions. They were really simple to paint: a wash over Menoth White Highlight and then paint the base details. I have one red, one turquoise, and one green.

Painted Bullsnapper #2 - WIP

Here's my second Bullsnapper. He was mostly painted at the same time as the last one. After having one done, they are very easy to crank out in short order.

Here's my painted Bullsnapper, following the same color scheme as my first Gatorman Posse unit and Blackhide Wrastler. I really like the motivation train I'm on right now cause I am cranking out the models.

Painted Blackhide Wrastler 2 - WIP

After painting up my first Wrastler and having some time during a conference call, I decided to start up my second Wrastler. He's painted a little differently to tell the two apart: grey underbelly instead of yellow, green back instead of grey, and grey cloth hood instead of brown. My opponents should easily tell the two apart. I'm applying these differences to anything that I have duplicate in Minions. I'll need to find something for the triplicates though...

Painted Blackhide Wrastler - WIP

Here's my Blackhide Wrastler for the Journeyman League. He'll be getting the dip shortly. I'm rather happy with how he turned out. He's painted the same as the Gatorman Posse I've previously painted. The next Wrastler and Posse get their own scheme too. It is something I thought would be unifying in the army.

I really hated painting the ropes on his hands. It just sucked.

Painted Ironback Spitter - WIP

Here's some pictures of the model I'm working on now. It is the Ironback Spitter. I didn't realize before I started painting this how many scales this monster had and it is draining me painting them all. Hopefully I'll finish him up tomorrow.

Painted Barnabas

Here's my painted Barnabas. As I'm working on Gatormen for the Journeyman League, I figured I should paint the star of the battlebox. He's got three hours of work and is currently dipped. Final pictures soon.

Painted Gatormen Posse

I finally got around to finishing up my Gatormen Posse unit. They aren't that hard to paint, and I think they turned out really well. I went with the Strong Tone dip from Army Painter and it worked wonders on the crevasses on the models.

As it worked out well on these models, I'm going to try to crank out a few more of the models before league ends.

Journeyman League - Week 1

The Journeyman League started at Hobbytown USA. We have 10 players so far and a bunch of new faces. I'm very excited for this slow grow league and having the new players play more.

In picking a faction, I looked at a few things. I wanted something I didn't already know well. I also wanted something I could paint relatively easily. I also needed to have a relatively fleshed out collection of the models or know that I'd be able to purchase more if needed. After spending some time looking at my collection, it came down to Minions, Farrow vs. Gators. The Minion faction is splintered in the Journeyman League by making you stay within a contract for the entire league, which I'm honestly happy about. In the end, it came down to the number of models to paint and the Blindwater Congregation had less. I'm hoping to get a majority of my 50 models done within the subfaction.
