Painted Algorithmic Dispersion Optifex #2
The second of my two Algorithmic Dispersion Optifex are done. Both arc nodes are ready for battle. I'm kind of excited to use them because I've found I really want an arc node with Syntherion. Magnetic Hold is too good not to cast.

Painted Algorithmic Dispersion Optifex
This guy has a super long name. I normally call him the ADO cause Algorithmic Dispersion Optifex is a ton to say at once. Simple to paint after the Optifex Directive. I utilized a very similar color scheme between them.
This is also one of the few (if only) times I've painted and based a model in the same night. Turning a new leaf, one night at a time.

I'm very happy with how these three models turned out. They look so good in person (to my eye) that I know my photos will be garbage comparatively. Only 12 more to do. :P

Painted Steelsoul Keg Protector
This is one of the models I was most excited to paint for Convergence. The staff painters did an amazing job painted her, the sculptors did a fantastic job making her. She's a great looking model on the table. It is a shame I didn't work to get 2. She's been needed on the tabletop, so I'm excited to get her based and finished for the table.

Finishing off the last of the three original heavy Vectors, I have the Inverter done. I'm still not really sure how to use him, but I'm hoping to figure him out soon.

Prepping For An Event
A local of mine recently asked about prepping for a
tournament in a few weeks. He’s a veteran of the 40k tourney scene, but doesn’t
have a baseline for Steamroller and Privateer-type events. After spending a
little time talking about it with him, I figured the topic would make some
decent posts and a few of my other friends also had interest in what I wrote,
so here we are.

Well, prepping for a tournament really causes you to crank out models. I have 3 left to finish in a week: Aurora, Axis, and an Inverter. I think I can do it, otherwise Legion comes to the event. I'm hoping for Convergence.

Painted Convergence Servitors
So, I haven't posted in what feels like forever... A few months of a break to refresh myself, and I'm back with a vengeance. I picked up a lot of Convergence of Cyriss at Gencon 2013. I mean a lot. I still have 40+ models to assemble for them.
The first things I painted up with my 30 servitors. I have 9 Attunement, 9 Reflex, 6 Accretion, and 6 Eliminators.

Painted Paladin of the Order of the Wall Alternate
My son's nap time was really productive. I managed to crank out the alternate version of the Paladin of the Wall for Harbinger's theme force. With them finished and Vilmon done, I have all the Paladins I'll need to make a wall my opponents will hate.
Painted Paladin of the Order of the Wall
The original Paladin of the Order of the Wall is one of my favorite Prime models. Badass and stoic, this model bleeds the feeling of the Order. I painted this model as a slight diversion from the list of Protectorate models I want to paint and play. Fun solo and pretty easy to paint.

Painted Guardian
Finishing Feora's battlebox, the Guardian is done. It also fits in two theme forces, for Kreoss1 and Reznik1. He's helped my battlegroup out a lot with the Critical Pitch and Arc Node. I just wish he was a little faster, but I'm ok with his abilities.

Feora, Priestess of the Flame is my current warlock using the alternate battlebox for a Journeyman league. She's an interesting warcaster to play. Not falling into the Engine of Destruction/Ignite combo is a bit difficult, but it'll get easier at higher point values.

I really hope the next warlock for Legion does something to bump them up or we get a Molik Karn of Nephilim as a character warbeast. Would be pretty awesome.

Finished the first of two Blighted Nyss Sorceress & Hellions. She did so well in my game with her on Tuesday that I figured she should get finished. That way she can rock out harder. A really good model with some nice rules in game.

Painted Warmongers
I finished the Warmongers I started many, many years ago. I want to get some theme forces done, specifically Thagrosh1's and Rhyas' second theme force. Warmongers are also my test scheme for my Warspears, which will be on the painting list soon.
These models also put more over 19% painted. That's currently 438 models. Ugh, that's a lot. I still have a lot to go, but my progress this year has been very awesome. I'm currently 51 models into my 120 model goal for the year. I think Vayl's theme forces will push me over the halfway mark, hopefully before the halfway mark of the year. I'm also 22 models away from having a fifth of my models painted. Gencon is coming up, which is pretty much guaranteed to screw the percentage up.

Well, I finally have a light box and some idea of how to use it. I used my wife's Nikon D40 camera, a tripod and a bunch of lights. You can see my ghetto set-up in the pictures below. It took me all of a half hour to build, basically just a bunch of wood bracketed together.

The final model I needed to have painted for Adepticon 2013, Durgen Madhammer. I used General Ossrum's paint scheme on him, and I think he looks really decent. Very similar to the studio scheme. This is the 2nd to last model I need to paint for Adepticon 2013. I was pretty worried about him because I have a very hard time painting Exemplar models. With only a model left to paint for Adepticon 2013, here's Vyros2 for your viewing pleasure. I really enjoyed painting the horse. Amazingly enough, for such a relatively simple model, it took 14 colors to finish Forward Kommander Sorscha. She's done now and I'm happy my color scheme is working out for Khador. It is the basic scheme with a slight modification to the black. Instead of using Thamar Black, I'm using Coal Black to give it a green tint that looks different than straight black. Painted Rask
Rask is a pretty cool model. So many paint schemes can be applied to him that make him look awesome. You can easily find skins of Murlocs from World of Warcraft to place onto him and he'd look great. I went for something very similar to the base scheme from Privateer Press. Took only 2ish hours to paint, pretty happy to have him done.
At this point, I'm 75% of the way done with the Minion warlocks. I have Strum & Drang and Midas left to do for warlocks. I still have Lug and Skarath to paint for the Lesser Warlocks, but I'm not worrying about them until after Adepticon.
My plan for Rask's theme force is to paint two units in his scheme, one unit in the default Privateer Press scheme, and a fourth unit in a different scheme I don't have yet. The two units in Rask's scheme will be his personal enforcers and they'll ambush more often than not. The unit in Privateer's scheme will be Rask's bodyguards, the Bog Trogs he doesn't trust. They get the benefit of dying for Rask. The fourth is really up for debate on how it plays, but should be fun. That is, if I can finish the first unit...

Painted Iron Lich Overseers and Scavenger
On Friday, I finished two of these models, the second Overseer and the Scavenger. They finish the Witch Coven of Garlghast's second Theme Force, putting me to a total of 12 painted 50 point tier-4 Theme Forces.

Painted Iron Lich Overseer
Working on the second Theme Force for the Witch Coven of Garlghast means I need to paint 2 Iron Lich Overseers. Well, here is the first. The second, which will match this, is going to be done soon too.

Painted Ragman
I needed to get my Ragman painted to start playing some kickass lists without Bane Thralls, Wraith Engine, or Goreshade the Bastard. :) I've got some Colossal cracking lists that need some playtime and Ragman gets a front row seat to provide help.
I painted him in about 36 minutes, which is probably the fastest I've ever painted a model. I'm happy with how he came out, he does well for what I'm going for. He's my 390th painted model as well. I'm getting pretty close to 400 now!

Finished Kraken
After my friend Michael convinced me to paint the rivets, I had a swell time doing that. It is the most evil thing anyone can suggest. :P I'm really happy to have finished this beast and can move onto other projects. He's getting a game Tuesday to try him with the new paintjob.

Kraken, Bit By Bit.
For the last week now, I've been working on getting my Kraken fully painted so I can play it. I'm really excited to use it more with Asphyxious the Hellbringer but also with Warwitch Deneghra and Pirate Queen Skarre. The Kraken has so many uses and is really versatile in its operation. I'd like to get more playtime with it, but it needs to get painted before it can see any table time (new rule this year).
To paint it, I kept the Kraken in 4 parts. I had the legs, the body, and the two claws separate. The body prevents me from getting to some angles on the legs and the legs prevents the same to the body. The claws/arms prevent access to both. It was just easier to have everything separate and paint it that way. It is a lot lighter as well.

A New Year...
So, I haven't posted in awhile. So long in fact that I didn't really post anything of what was new in December or what I've been working on. What can I say, December was pretty crazy. :)
In this month, I painted Cassius and Wurmwood, 4 Gallows Groves, 2 units of Stonewards and Woldstalkers, a Blackclad Wayfarer and a Scarsfell Griffon. These finished up the 3 Theme Forces I was working on for Circle, Baldur1's, Baldur2's, and Cassius' second Theme Force. Pretty happy to get up to 10 fully painted Theme Forces.
Without further ado, the painted models...
