Painted Rotterhorn Griffon

These are the prebased pictures of the Rotterhorn Griffon that Katie from Crippled System (http://www.crippledsystem.com/) commissioned me to paint. She gave me a picture of a black eagle to try to replicate and I think it came out rather well.

This is the second of two models I've painted that follow a real life image of an animal. I've found that during the first hour of painting, the model looks awful. It is really hard to get past that stage when the doubt is largest that the model won't turn out. Once the base painting is done and the details are being worked on is when I feel the model really comes together. I'm very happy with this model except for the mold lines that I missed while cleaning it. It is more annoying because I spent quite a bit of time looking for them and still missed them. :(

Safe Priming

The cold weather is here and priming outside is no longer an option.  What you need is a warehouse and a tarp.

Battle Mechanik Officer

Finally finished this guy up, so, for your viewing enjoyment, the Khadoran Battle Mechanik UA!

Painted Algorithmic Dispersion Optifex #2

The second of my two Algorithmic Dispersion Optifex are done. Both arc nodes are ready for battle. I'm kind of excited to use them because I've found I really want an arc node with Syntherion. Magnetic Hold is too good not to cast.

Painted Algorithmic Dispersion Optifex

This guy has a super long name. I normally call him the ADO cause Algorithmic Dispersion Optifex is a ton to say at once. Simple to paint after the Optifex Directive. I utilized a very similar color scheme between them.

This is also one of the few (if only) times I've painted and based a model in the same night. Turning a new leaf, one night at a time.

A Night of Basing

I based my Servitors and Optifex Directive. I needed to get them completely finished. Here they are.

Painted Clockwork Angels

I'm very happy with how these three models turned out. They look so good in person (to my eye) that I know my photos will be garbage comparatively. Only 12 more to do. :P

Basing comes later this week.

Painted Steelsoul Keg Protector

This is one of the models I was most excited to paint for Convergence. The staff painters did an amazing job painted her, the sculptors did a fantastic job making her. She's a great looking model on the table. It is a shame I didn't work to get 2. She's been needed on the tabletop, so I'm excited to get her based and finished for the table.

Painted Inverter

Finishing off the last of the three original heavy Vectors, I have the Inverter done. I'm still not really sure how to use him, but I'm hoping to figure him out soon.

Painted Aurora

I finished Aurora for the same event that I finished Axis with. I'm really happy with how her wings turned out. As the only model with flesh in the faction, I'm glad she's done and out of the way.

Painted Axis

Here's my finished Axis before I received his replacement hammer to finish him. I'm happy with how he turned out with all that detail.

Painted Prime Axiom

He took me a couple of days, but I'm really, really, really happy I finished him. He looks amazing and will definitely be the center piece of my army. I hope to get a bunch of games with him soon.

Prepping For An Event

A local of mine recently asked about prepping for a tournament in a few weeks. He’s a veteran of the 40k tourney scene, but doesn’t have a baseline for Steamroller and Privateer-type events. After spending a little time talking about it with him, I figured the topic would make some decent posts and a few of my other friends also had interest in what I wrote, so here we are.

Painted Monitor

Well, prepping for a tournament really causes you to crank out models. I have 3 left to finish in a week: Aurora, Axis, and an Inverter. I think I can do it, otherwise Legion comes to the event. I'm hoping for Convergence.

Painted Light Vectors

I finished all three light Vectors within hours of each other, so you get all three at once. They are the Mitigator, Galvanizer, and Diffuser. I need these for the tournaments coming up as all three lights provide a lot of benefits to the armies.

Enjoy!

Painted Forge Master Syntherion

Took about 1.5 hours to full paint up. He's on of my favorites in Convergence, so I'm glad he's done. Gotta get the rest of the battlebox done though.

Painted Cipher

This is my first Vector painted. I painted him completely while chatting with my good friends Plumplum and Gdaybloke. I'm happy with him. Gotta continue painting these guys before the new models come out. :)

Painted Convergence Servitors

So, I haven't posted in what feels like forever... A few months of a break to refresh myself, and I'm back with a vengeance. I picked up a lot of Convergence of Cyriss at Gencon 2013. I mean a lot. I still have 40+ models to assemble for them.

The first things I painted up with my 30 servitors. I have 9 Attunement, 9 Reflex, 6 Accretion, and 6 Eliminators.

Painted Exemplar Errants

The beginning of 25 Exemplar Errants have been finished. I finally finished the minimum squad I've been working on for a very, very long time. It has taken near a month to paint 5 grunts for this unit, but they are finally done.

Painted Iron Fang Kovnik

Finally got my Iron Fang Kovnik painted up for the Journeyman League that is being run at our shop right now.

Painted Paladin of the Order of the Wall Alternate

My son's nap time was really productive. I managed to crank out the alternate version of the Paladin of the Wall for Harbinger's theme force. With them finished and Vilmon done, I have all the Paladins I'll need to make a wall my opponents will hate.

Painted Paladin of the Order of the Wall

The original Paladin of the Order of the Wall is one of my favorite Prime models. Badass and stoic, this model bleeds the feeling of the Order. I painted this model as a slight diversion from the list of Protectorate models I want to paint and play. Fun solo and pretty easy to paint.

Painted Guardian

Finishing Feora's battlebox, the Guardian is done. It also fits in two theme forces, for Kreoss1 and Reznik1. He's helped my battlegroup out a lot with the Critical Pitch and Arc Node. I just wish he was a little faster, but I'm ok with his abilities.

Painted Dervish

I decided to get the small warjack out of the way first. Next up is the Guardian.

I'm excited to play the Dervish, getting him up to two MAT 8 POW 17 attacks with Side Step or Combo Strike for POW 21. He'll be much better with Ignite and the Choir's Battle Hymn. Very excited for games tomorrow.
